Overview

Spellbook for Slack lets anyone on your team send a legal request to Spellbook ACM without leaving Slack. Use /spellbook or add the wand emoji 🪄 to a message, and Spellbook files it as a deal request in Triage for your legal team to review. Replies, files, status changes and reassignments stay in sync between the Slack thread and the deal.

How to Integrate Spellbook with Slack

Setup takes one admin and a few clicks. Here's how it works:

Connect your Slack workspace

A Spellbook admin goes to Settings → Integrations → Slack and approves the app in Slack. Each Spellbook organization connects one Slack workspace, and each workspace connects to one Spellbook organization.

Set up your Pipelines

The Slack app shows the same Pipelines and custom fields you've configured in Spellbook, so Slack requests land in the same structure as every other deal. If you haven't created any yet, Slack will ask you to set them up first.

Add Spellbook to your channels

Add the app to each channel where you want to use it. It works in public and private channels, and it only sees channels it's been added to. It doesn't work in direct messages.

Send a request from Slack

There are two ways to create a deal request:

• React with 🪄: Add the :magic_wand: reaction to any message, including older ones. Spellbook reads the message and its thread, including attached agreements, and works out the details.
• Use /spellbook: Type the command in a channel the app has been added to and a Create a Deal form opens. Choose the Pipeline and counterparty, then add deal context (up to 10 agreements). and any custom fields. Select the deal type before you attach files, because changing it clears them.

Spellbook reads your message alongside your organization's routing rules and decides whether it's a new request, more information for an existing deal, or not a deal at all. When you react with 🪄, it replies in the thread with the result:

• Created a deal: A new deal request opens in Triage, with a link and a preview card.
• Added to a deal: The message belonged to a deal Spellbook already had, so it went there.
• Not a deal: Nothing is created. Only you see this reply, and it includes a Create deal button that opens the form pre-filled with your message and its files.

Keep the thread and the deal in sync

Once a deal is linked to a Slack thread, replies, files, status changes and reassignments will flow both ways. Paste a link to a Spellbook deal into Slack and it shows as a preview card with the status, counterparty, deal type and description. You can also click the card to open a details panel without leaving Slack.

• Get every request into Spellbook: Add 🪄 to a Slack message and Spellbook opens the deal request with the agreement attached.‍
• Keep requesters in the loop: Status changes and reassignments show up in the Slack thread.‍
• Ensure every follow-up goes to the right deal: Follow-ups in a thread go to the existing deal instead of making a duplicate.‍
• Start every request with what legal needs: Use /spellbook to set the Pipeline, counterparty, and up to 10 agreements up front.
